Computer Science. Photographer, freelance writer.

My interest is in computer and information security, especially its relevance and applications to national security. A growing number of countries around the world, including the United States, China and Israel, are beginning to recognize cyberspace as the fifth military domain, and are focusing on developing both defensive and offensive capabilities in the area. Operations in cyberspace have the potential to cause physical damage and widespread disruption to national infrastructure and financial systems, may be conducted by a small number of technically able individuals, and are in fact plausibly deniable.
Today, people rely on a broad spectrum of computer and electronic based services in daily life, ranging from cellular telephones, email and social networking to e-government services. Subway trains, traffic control systems, and even the power grid itself, while traditionally thought of as physical infrastructure, now also exist in the domain of cyberspace. All of these systems vulnerable to cyberspace exploits by parties as diverse as belligerent nations and terrorist organizations, to disgruntled Computer Science majors (albeit with much reduced effect!) Conversely, they are also strategic 'soft' targets that may be engaged in a prelude to conventional military action.
I am also interested in the broader fields of Parallel Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and make it a point to keep up with the latest in computers and technology.
Being a hardware enthusiast. I assemble and integrate desktop computers and modify notebook computers. My latest modification was to solder an additional mini-PCI Express connector to an Acer Aspire 3820TG to facilitate the installation of a WWAN card. The details of this modification can be found at the official NotebookReview.com thread here.
As a photographer, I enjoy the great outdoors, particularly in the golden hours of the morning and evening. My preferred style of photography is the landscape, and the hobby never fails to bring me to places of astounding natural beauty.
